“In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Thanksgiving is a time when we take a moment from life’s craziness and give gratitude to God for all we have. For some of us that can seem overwhelming. The storms of life are hitting us so hard that gratitude is the last thing on our minds. Or maybe gratitude has become a mundane task, just another thing to check off the list of to-dos.
No matter where you find yourself this week here are 5 steps from the Bible that will help you to give thanks to God:
REMEMBER HIM – “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” ~ Psalms 3:6
The ultimate sign of appreciation is being remembered, isn't it? It's the warmth of a surprise birthday or the thrill of an unexpected honor. When we truly remember God, He becomes an integral part of our daily thoughts, words, and deeds. This remembrance isn't just personal; it's a call to share His love with others.
SERVE OTHERS – “As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” ~ 1 Peter 4:10
A profound expression of gratitude to God is serving others. 1 Peter 4:10 challenges us to use our God-given gifts to serve one another. In serving others, we not only glorify God but also demonstrate our appreciation for His transformative work in our lives.
EXPRESS GRATITUDE TO OTHERS - “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” ~ Colossians 3:17 God delights in our gratitude, especially when we express it to those who serve us. A heartfelt "thank you," whether verbal or written, can make a significant difference in someone's life and honor God.
CHOOSE TO BE HUMBLE – “Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.” ~ James: Your greatness shines through, but true humility is a beautiful quality. James 4:10 reminds us that humility leads to exaltation. When we face trials with gratitude and trust in God's wisdom, we not only honor Him but also demonstrate the depth of our faith.
PRAY – “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” ~ Philippians 4:6 Prayer is a powerful tool for expressing gratitude to God. He yearns to hear your voice. Simple, sincere prayers, thanking Him for the blessings in your life, touch His heart deeply. Don't let fear or uncertainty hold you back from connecting with Him through prayer. Come to God just as you are. Even if you’ve never prayed before, it’s never too late to start.
Every day is a testimony to God's work in your life. Take time every day to express your gratitude for that life and it will promote a sense of joy in everything you do.
Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
